Our hiking area

Summer at the High Tauern National Park!

From the green valley floors right up to the perpetual ice

The High Tauern National Park is in many respects a truly unique hiking area.

The long bar of the High Tauern stretches over a length of about 100 kilometers (62 miles) – every few kilometers you can find a new valley with distinctive characteristics and countless touring possibilities.

A whole mountaineer’s life is not enough to go all of the tours possible here. More than 350 three-thousanders form an enormous scenery for your hiking holidays but also the abundance of water of the High Tauern will fascinate you!

Countless roaring mountain streams, enormous waterfalls but also quiet and crystal clear mountain lakes are your constant companion.

Due to the altitude difference – you move between an altitude of 800 m and 3798 m – you can travel through different climate zones.

The ascent from the valley to the glacier regions of the High Tauern is comparable to a travel to the Arctic!

The other side of the valley – the Kitzbühel Alps

The Kitzbühel and Pinzgauer grass covered mountains stretch between the Zillertal in the west and Zell am See in the east with the highest grass covered mountain in Europe, the Geißstein (2363 m).

Beautiful alpine hikes expect you here – most in wonderful alpine terrain – between 1000 and 2300 m. This is accompanied by the breathtaking view of the skyline of three-thousanders of the High Tauern. Even though the Kitzbühel Alps consist mostly out of soft grass covered mountains, there are exceptions.

The big Rettenstein (2366 m) is an enormous limestone rock formation and would fit more into the Dolomites because of its optics. The Rettenstein is the hotspot for the domestic climbing scene – aerial routes lead to one of the most beautiful panorama peaks of our region!
